		<description><![CDATA[I&#039;ve often heard that one should say something positive at the start of the difficult conversation, even if the positive comment has nothing to do with the substance of the criticism (&quot;I like your work ethic, but you have to stop treating X like S.&quot;)  I think that signals that you are, if not exactly on their side, not personally offended, and also might raise the tone to a more professional level.

		<description><![CDATA[Well, the higher-ups usually cause the bad situations so it is really about acknowledging the situation and making the best of it to the folks below you.  The higher-ups in my case tend to be a bit deaf, dumb and blind so they are usually unaware that there is an issue and won&#039;t recognize it when it is pointed out. (Yes, I have really bad management above me; there is a total lack of leadership amongst the higher-ups.)]]></description>

This drives me bonkers, because then it&#039;s incorrectly threaded and quite hard to track down later.]]></description>
